The Aero-Propulsion, Mechatronics and Energy building at Florida State University is home to a new state-of-the-art 12”x12” Polysonic Wind Tunnel (PSWT). The project was awarded to Merrill Engineering & Integration (MEI) by Aiolos Engineering of Toronto Canada. MEI’s design and manufacturing capabilities were essential to the manufacturability and assembly of the wind tunnel.
The PSWT will be used as a resource for developing active flow and noise control techniques for the study of problems associated with new high-speed flight vehicle designs. The facility will attract, educate, and retain diversified engineers by allowing capability studies for a broad range of scaled air/space vehicle models.
Merrill was honored to not only be a turnkey solutions provider for this project, but to have successfully delivered an outstanding product that will be used as a tool to educate fellow engineers.
